Casper

Casper is a program, originally created by Ubuntu (Wikipedia:Ubuntu_(Linux_distribution) or http://www.ubuntu.com/), and adopted by Debian (Wikipedia:Debian or http://www.debian.org/).
The notes contained here may or may not be useful to anyone else. I am simply documenting what I learn about casper as I learn it for my very specific purpose of running Debian on USB.
I have created a couple of casper patches.
I have compiled a page describing the Casper boot process, as I understand it.
